Update: As of 2024, Arcadia's renewable energy membership was bought by Sol Systems. Information on their program may be different than the below.
There is a cost-efficient way to use solar and wind energy at home, without having solar panels. Even renters can use this solution and the best part... it only costs $5 per month to completely replace your energy use with renewable sources!
It's honestly crazy for me to write that sentence, it makes me sound like I'm overpromising a miracle, but I've used this product for *exactly* 28 months reliably.
What am I talking about? Arcadia's Community Solar initiative.
How does Arcadia Community Solar work?
It takes less than 15 minutes to sign up. All you need to do is to provide Arcadia access to your power & light account in your local area and Arcadia will take care of the bill. Every month, you'll get a bill from Arcadia instead of your light company - adding an additional $5 on top.
Arcadia then logs how much energy your home uses and replaces that energy into the power grids with solar or wind power from their affiliated networks.
Every energy usage you are responsible for in your home is replaced seamlessly into power grids with renewable options.
This is one of the easiest swaps you can do for your family, is a small enough charge that it's available for any budget regardless of your income, and the impact is out in the world within a month.
Check out how using Arcadia in my home has made a difference with these screenshots. When you sign up, you'll get a similar dashboard sharing the difference you've made.
Now isn't that motivating? I love that I can see my direct impact using this service.
Would you try a service like Arcadia? What other swaps do you want to make in your life?
